PGP is heavily involved in vaccine promotion efforts. For the past three years, PGP has designed and managed Kaiser Permanente's seasonal flu promotion campaign within communities of color. This campaign has increased vaccination rates and reduced vaccine hesitancy. For the past two years, PGP has led the nation's largest vaccine communications monitoring program, Project VCTR, which focuses particularly on vaccine hesitancy and opposition. VCTR is used by over 500 health organizations in the US. To expand on the proven efficacy of Project VCTR globally, PGP partnered with UNICEF to create the Vaccination Demand Observatory. The Observatory tracks and responds to vaccine misinformation, supporting UNICEF country offices and their community partners.

In 2020 Dr. Smyser and PGP created Stronger, a national advocacy campaign, which works to stop the spread of misinformation by advocating for facts, science, and vaccines. Using multimedia campaigns, Stronger reaches millions of people each month through multiple channels, platforms and mediums.

Dr. Smyser is a recognized leader in the field of public health communications. He holds a PhD and master’s in public health and did his postdoctoral training at the CDC. {/sliders}
